These instructions assume that you are running Apple iOS 7 or greater on the iPad 3. Ensure you have version 1.27 or greater of the Jabra Solemate Max firmware, visit the official Jabra Solemate Max support site [2] to download the latest version. You can switch off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate Max until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.
Pairing the iPad 3 to the Jabra Solemate Max using Bluetooth

- Follow these steps to pair the iPad 3 with the Jabra Solemate Max. On the right hand side of the speaker locate the power slider, there are three settings - off, on and bluetooth. Starting from the off position push up the power switch all the way to the top and hold until the indicator light starts flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
- From the home screen on the iPad choose the Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and turn the Bluetooth option on.
- From the list of nearby devices select the Jabra Solemate Max, it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
- You can now play music on the Jabra Solemate Max wirelessly from the iPad 3. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application which plays audio will bring up a list of devices where you’ll be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and the Jabra Solemate Max. In the future you can turn on the Jabra Solemate Max and it will automatically connect to the iPad 3 without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
- As long as you don’t pair the Jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the iPad 3.

- These instructions show you how to hook up the iPad 3 to the Jabra Solemate Max using a cable to play music. First locate the headphone socket at the top of the tablet.
- With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate Max. This can be located on the right of the speaker above the USB port.
- Connect the headphone socket on the iPad 3 to the line in on the Jabra Solemate Max port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
- From now on any sounds from the iPad 3the tablet will stop playing on the speaker and play on the Jabra Solemate Max instead.
- When the line in port is used the Bluetooth facility will be disabled, you'll hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement and you'll only be able to listen to audio from the iPad 3. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPad 3 are now connected and ready to be used to play audio. [AD]
